There are now more than 150,000 LEED-certified housing units worldwide, according to the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED in Motion: Residential report. Where does your home state stack up? Scroll down for the top 10 and bottom 10 states per certified units.
Also included in the report is a list of the top LEED for Homes credits—those most often achieved. Topping the list are:
1. The implementation of nontoxic pest control alternatives (Sustainable Sites credit 5, achieved by 99 percent of projects).
2. Using environmentally preferable products (Materials and Resources credit 2.2, achieved by 98 percent of projects).
3. Implementing exceptional energy performance (Energy and Atmosphere credit 1.2, achieved by 95 percent of projects)
4. Using appropriate HVAC refrigerants (Energy and Atmosphere credit 11.2); installing very high-efficiency fixtures and fitting (Water Efficiency credit 3.2); and locating a project near existing infrastructure (Location and Linkages credit 4), all three of which were achieved by 94 percent of projects.
