Boral Roofing. A titanium dioxide coating on MonierLifetile’s “smog-eating roofing” reacts with sunlight to neutralize nitrogen oxide pollutants (smog); the leftover organic nitrate residue rinses off the roof when it rains, where it can aid grass and plant growth. According to the firm, a 2,000-square-foot roof can eliminate the same amount of nitrogen oxide that a car produces driving 10,800 miles. www.boralna.com.

Duo-Gard. The company now offers its translucent daylighting panels with 3S Solar Block, a transparent coating that the firm claims transmits up to 79% of visible light while blocking 99.9% of the UV rays that can cause fading and 95% of infrared heat rays. The product allows pros to bring in daylight through walls, skylights, and canopies without causing heat gain and glare. The coating can be combined with the company’s other offerings, such as Nanogel insulation, to suit each project’s needs. www.duo-gard.com

Pleotint. Using sunlight-responsive thermochromic technology, Pleotint glass darkens in direct sunlight, reducing heat and glare while maintaining the view; because the sun does the work, no wiring is required. The film is the same base material used in laminated safety glass, so it also prevents broken glass from shattering if impacted, the maker says. www.pleotint.com.

Lutron. One of the key hindrances to consumer acceptance of CFLs and LEDs is the products' difficulties in dimming situations—even dimmable bulbs can face problems when used with traditional dimmers. The manufacturer’s new Diva-CL is designed to work with all types of dimmable incandescent, halogen, LED, and CFL bulbd, and eliminates some common problems, such as lighting “drop out,” lights not turning on when the dimmer is at its lowest setting, and lights turning off unexpectedly. A mechanism behind the wall plate allows homeowners to make manual adjustments based on bulb type. www.lutron.com.

Knauf. The KISS system combines the manufacturer’s EcoBatt insulation or Jet Stream blow-in insulation and a new water-based elastomeric sealant, EcoSeal. The sealant dries to a flexible tough film, creating an air barrier at the home’s seams. It contains no solvents and less than 0.3% VOCs, and it requires no CFCs or HCFCs for manufacturing or installation. According to the firm, EcoSeal has an STC rating higher than foam, is Class A rated for fire and smoke, applies in temperatures from 20 degrees to 115 degrees F, and cleans up with water. www.knaufinsulation.us.

Oldcastle. Combining R-13.5 polystyrene panels and insertable masonry units, SureTouch provides the look of traditional stone with simple installation and added energy efficiency. Installers fasten the panels to the exterior, pop the masonry stones or bricks into place, and apply mortar with a manual gun. The panels are premolded to accept 10 sizes of stone and five sizes of brick; vertical channels on the back drain moisture from behind the wall. Several styles and colors are available. www.suretouchusa.com.

This year’s Greenbuild International Conference & Expo logged more than 25,000 attendees and played host to the country’s largest show floor dedicated to green products. And while the majority of the 1,000-plus manufacturer exhibitors showcased commercial products, there were still plenty of new residential offerings on display (plus a full day of seminars specifically devoted to green homes). Click on the slide show to see nine selections from the exhibit floor.
