The Holcim Awards, which recognizes bold ideas for sustainability in a range of building- and construction-related fields is now accepting entries for the 4th edition of the competition. A total of $2 million will be awarded during the competition cycle. Entries must be submitted online at by March 24, 2014.

The Holcim Awards is open to architects, planners, engineers, project owners, builders, and construction firms that showcase sustainable responses to technological, environmental, socioeconomic, and cultural issues with contemporary building and construction. Project must have reached an advanced stage of design, have a high probability of execution, and may not have started construction before July 1, 2013.

Entries also are being accepted for the "Next Generation," a young professionals and student category. All entrants must be between 18 and 30 years old and their projects may not have started construction before July 1, 2013.

Regional winners will be announced in late 2014, and will proceed to a global phase in 2015. The total prize money for each of the five regional competitions is $330,000, while the prize money for the Global Holcim Awards competition is a total of $350,000.
