The Greenbuild Conference and Expo, being held in Chicago Nov. 17-19, will include half-day tours of sustainable homes in the Chicago area as well as tours of the city’s historic sites and iconic architecture.

Attendees must register for all tours, which are not included in the price of the conference passes. The Greenbuild residential-related tours include:

Grassroots Green: Community Members Driving Sustainable Practices
November 19, 1-6 p.m.
Tour three locations on Chicago’s Far North Side that have embraced a community vision beyond LEED certification, including the Andersonville Neighborhood, an urban-center model located in a diverse neighborhood with a unique infrastructure of green community initiatives.

Sustainability in Chicago’s North Side Residential Neighborhoods
November 19, 1-6 p.m.
Learn how a residential green building can be successfully implemented in an urban context. This tour will include examples of sustainably designed, multifamily residential units, a net-zero-energy house built from the ground up, and a green dwelling renovated from a classic Chicago building.

Affordable and Green: Greenbuild Legacy Home Project
November 20, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
Tour six projects designed to demonstrate, through the cooperative effort of local consultants, product manufacturers, and volunteers, the idea of next-generation affordable housing.
