Lennar has opened a new smart home community in Orlando that promises to "allow families to do more, feel better and use less by living smarter."

Dubbed Innovation at Storey Park, the gated community of 144 homes features Cottage, Manor and Estate models and offers standard amenities such as home automation and high-speed data outlets and a state-of-the-art rooftop solar-energy system that produces up to 60% of the home’s electricity – the first program of its kind in Florida.

“The average home in this country is 38 years old – long before people heard of the Internet,” said Brock Nicholas, President of Lennar’s Orlando division. “Our new homes reflect how people live today and come standard with the lifestyle conveniences once reserved for custom-built private estates.”

Innovation at Storey Park homes, with prices starting from the $270s, feature Lennar’s Everything’s Included promise. Typical costly upgrades from a design studio are instead included by Lennar as standard features for customers in the price of a new home. These amenities encourage seamlessly connected living by allowing homeowners to:

  • Do more. With advanced home automation – including locks, lights and wireless alarm with motion detector – home owners can control their lives from the palm of their hands.
  • Connect easily. With USB ports and multimedia access, the family can stay charged and connected to their favorite content.
  • Use less. With occupancy sensors, Energy Star appliances and a hybrid water heater, home owners can save water and electricity without even thinking about it.
  • Live smarter. With solar standard, home owners can harness the clean, renewable energy of the sun to power their home. The program enables home owners to pay a flat monthly fee for a system that generates up to 60 percent of their anticipated electricity needs.
