The Water + Life Museums Campus has received an American Architecture Award and Savings By Design Merit Award for its balance of beauty and sustainability. Sponsored by The Chicago Athenaeum, American Architecture Awards identify cutting-edge design directions, urban philosophy, design approach, style and intellectual substance. The Savings By Design Energy Efficiency Integration Awards, sponsored by the California Public Utilities Commission, San Francisco, in cooperation with AIA California Council, highlight nonresidential California buildings that combine architectural elegance with sustainability and efficiency. Water + Life earned one of two merit awards. One judge noted, “This is one of the most integrated projects of all the entries with elegant architectural design combining well with sustainable technologies, including innovative shading solutions and radiant-floor heating.” To read more about the museums, see page 24 of eco-structure's March issue.
