Foster School of Business, University of Washington

Paccar Hall and Business Hall, two of the five buildings comprising the Foster School of Business, are knit together to create opportunities for casual encounters and interaction. A four-story atrium runs the length of Paccar Hall and this newly constructed building connects to Business Hall, a brick-clad, 63,000-square-foot, 1960s-era building via a glass skybridge and a subterranean library.

Paccar Hall features 47 percent glazing. High-performance insulated glass, vertical and horizontal sunshades, and integrated mechanical systems maintain an energy-efficient building.

LMN Architects took advantage of the sloping site topography to position three buidling entrances at the different floor levels. These entrances align with the campus's existing walking paths to draw pedestrians through the space.

The large-volume spaces are cooled by an indirect evaporative cooling system. The variety of spaces allow for both individual meetings and larger group functions.
