Portal to the Emerald City

Emerald City welcomes visitors to the Sea-Tac airport and gives them a subtle reference to exterior temperatures with the hue of the clock tower's LED lights. Green indicates a moderate temperature.

The PV panels on the tower's south face genearte 1.8 kilowatts at peak production, which is fed back into the grid.

Emerald City also consists of towers that will be covered in vines and mesh topiary cages, as well as colorful rolling berms.

Three stainless steel towers will be covered in evergreen vines including clematis, jasmine, and passionflower.

The rolling gabion walls are filled with granite or locally quarried basalt and the striped effect is meant to call to mind ocean waves.
