Tactile Teaching

The landscaping of Little Owl Preschool includes a hardscape play area, natural playgrounds, and a dominant living wall.

The living wall features a unique pattern of succulents, sedums, and other drought-tolerant plants in varying shades of green.

Earth tones and light-colored woods dominate the preschool's color palette.

Two green roofs, one accessible by parents, help reduce the heat island effect and provide additional usable outdoor space.

Classroom and office areas are clad in a smooth stucco finish, while service areas are finished with a fiber cement panel system.

The interior plan is quite open to help distribute light and allow spaces to be used as needed.

The entry to Little Owl taps into the Reggio Emilia approach to treating children as a partner in the learning process, and gives children their own half-size door.
