Four advanced glazing options designed to achieve net-zero meet contemporary styling in the newest window introductions.

Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork Co.

Designed to help builders achieve a cost-effective platform for reaching net-zero energy, Kolbe's Teutonic Series windows and doors are the brand's latest to be certified by the Passive House Institute US (PHIUS). The collection includes fixed and tile-turn windows and tilt-and-slide doors that feature argon-filled triple-pane glass and a variety of LoE coating options. Program verification by PHIUS also accounts for factors including lite divisions and elevation placement. All products in the Teutonic collection are certified for use in Zone 2 East and the Marine South zone. Fixed windows are also certified for Zone 2 West and Zone 3.

Weather Shield has enhanced and updated its Contemporary Collection windows and doors. New features include flush frames for the window units, custom-crafted casement hardware now with a black color option, and a 3 1/4-inch bottom rail on hinged, bi-fold, and sliding doors. The streamlined look gives aluinum-clad Contemporary Collection a resemblance to commercial steel and aluminum windows, further enhanced by the availability of new exterior color options, including eight anodized finishes or metallic paint.

Zola Windows has unveiled Zola Arctic, a Passive House Institute-certified window designed for versatility across a range of temperatures, including extremely cold climates. The window construction features a timber-aluminum frame, polyurethane foam insulation, four layers of glazing, and swisspacer warm edge technology with butyl as a second seal. All of this is packed into a slim frame and comes together with an R-value of 15 and a high visible light transmittance of 64%.

Bringing more features to an economical price point for builders, Pro Via has introduced its ecoLite Vinyl Window Series. The windows come standard with a 3/4-inch Intercept Blackline glazing system to improve thermal performance and reduce heat loss and interior condensation while lowering glass temperatures. The multi-chamber frame and sash system features accessory grooves to accommodate a variety of interior and exterior trim options, and is constructed from Sunshield Vinyl that will resist discoloration, warping, rotting, corrosion, denting, and rust. Other features include a Quick Tilt balance system and integral interlock at the meeting rail. Order the double-hung, single-hung, slider, picture, and architectural shapes with or without the integral nail fin. The windows' limited lifetime warranty includes a 20-year warranty on glass seal failure.

Black window frames make a dramatic addition to the Ply Gem Windows lineup. The 1500 Vinyl Collection features a classic black exterior will be available early 2016 for the new construction market. To allay concerns over warping with a dark vinyl color, the window frames are constructed of a black capstock over a white co-extruded under layer that reflects sunlight and limits heat gain. For easy ordering and design flexibility, the 1500 Vinyl Collection consolidates Ply Gem Windows' multiple vinyl window options into one platform with a common sash and common sizing. Builders can customize their window designs and only pay for upgrades they choose without extra features they don't need. The classic black finish will be available on all 1500 Vinyl Collection operating styles, including single-hung, sliding, picture, and architectural shapes.
