The American Solar Energy Society (ASES) will launch its 13th annual National Solar Tour on Oct. 4 to showcase how the sun's energy can reduce homeowners' utility bills.

The events, timed during National Solar Energy Awareness Month, will be held in 48 states. During the tours, owners of solar-powered homes will open their doors to the community to show how they are using solar power to save money, reduce carbon emissions, and make use of tax credits and other incentives.

Most of the open houses will be conducted Oct. 4, though some are spread throughout the month. For a complete list of tour locations and dates, click here.
